Why not to piss off your IT Admin.

I'm not salary, I'm a pay-me-by-the-hour-so-I-can-get-OT-pay kind of guy. I don't mind working OT, but I damn well better get PAID for it, and if you're salary, they can work you into a shallow grave, kick a rock over your corpse, and find another IT guy to take up where you dropped dead....

I never knew what a test lab was used for until now...

I ran into a problem updating a SoftwareX on a computer. After updating the software I would have the program print a list out that would be sent away in the US mail. Easy or so you think, but this software company has been trying to fix its own software from the day they got away from a dummy terminal (which was only a little over a year ago).

Another someone who shouldn't be using a computer.

I get a call from a user who can't figure out how to dial in to our college on her Mac. She is currently using Earthlink dialup as her ISP and cannot access stuff on our intranet. I explain to her that she can only get to those things if she is at the college or if she dials into the colleg's network. I walk her through setting up a dial up connection.
